My mother and father are both over 80.
They were raised during a great technological revolution where
we moved from kerosene and oil lamps to electricity ... crystal
sets to television ... crank multi-party telephones to cell phones
and Model T Fords to BMW Z4's.
My dad has a great
story about himself and a friend inadvertently getting in
trouble throwing rhubarb.
My mother
tells about her Christmas trips to
her grandparents (John and Matilda Carlson) farm house outside
of DeKalb, Illinois -- often in a horse and sleigh.
Although
my dad's father died when he was only a year and a half old,
we know quite a bit about Grandfather Fay through his diaries.
One secondary account of the Iroquois Theater of 1903 in Chicago was
provided by Grandfather Fay's brother who was an interior designer
and artist for Marshall Field and Company.
