Selected as one of Michigan's Notable Books, Copper-Toed Boots is a classic story of two young boys growing up in 19th century Lapeer, Michigan.

The Lapeer County Historical Society placed a sign marking the site.

It was unveiled in May 1971, with Mrs. deAngeli in attendence.

 

 

 

Lapeer City Library was renamed the Marguerite deAngeli

Library in 1981. Mrs. deAngeli was present for the

rededication of the building in her honor.

 

You're invited to stroll the tree lined streets of Lapeer and explore some of the beautiful homes that have become treasures to this tiny community. A Historic Home Tour of Lapeer City will take place Saturday, September 22, 2001 from 10am to 5 pm. Tickets are $10.00 and will admit you to eight homes, each differing in style and architecture, two churches and three public buildings - including the oldest working court house in the state of Michigan.
